Tonight I find myself looking for examples of those who really had faith in the Lord. It is so easy to say that I have faith, but when tested, I realize that I become like the wave in the sea…the one thing I don’t want to become like. God lead me to a scripture tonight that I have not looked at since middle school. He lead me to Jonah 2:1-10.
“In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry. You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me. I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’ The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O lord my God. When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. But I , with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the Lord. And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah unto dry land."

Wow! How amazing that God will command our enemy to spit us up when we call on Him and believe in His promise!!! I want to have faith like Jonah. I think of how he describes his moment being "banished from His sight". How many times do we come across moments that we feel banished from His sight!? I know for myself that this happens on a daily basis. I want to believe in the deepest pits like Jonah, that God will deliver me and bring His plan into place. I love how Jonah says, " I will look again toward your holy temple" under such a fear! It shows how much the enemy wants us to be blinded by our circumstances.

May God strengthen our faith today as we approach problems that feel impossible. Lord, help us to trust you!!!
