WE HAVE BEEN CALLED TO SOMETHING GREATER THAN OURSELVES. A MIGHTY WORK IS POURING THROUGH US, WHICH WE CANNOT YET FULLY SEE OR KNOW. THE BATTLE AGES ALL AROUND US. OUR ENEMY OF APATHY AND COMPLACENCY BESIEGES US. THE CALL IS LOUD, IF ONLY WE WILL LISTEN. ONE BY ONE WE HEAR IT. IT GROWS LOUDER AND LOUDER, AS DOES THE ARMY. WE LINK ARMS AND HEARTS. WE KNOW WE ARE CHOSEN FOR A TIME SUCH AS THIS.
I TAKE THE BANNER. I ACCEPT THE
CHALLENGE. HERE AM I, SEND ME.

A Generation In Crisis

Without being detected, an enemy has quietly infiltrated our country, leaving in its path the ravished hearts and minds of America’s youth. Corporations, media conglomerates and purveyors of popular culture have invested billions to seduce and enslave our youth’s hearts, souls and minds. And so far, they are winning.
The enemy is no longer at our doorsteps– it is in our homes. It goes to school with our teens and fi lls their free time. This generation is about to be lost, and we are being called to take action. It is time we answer the Battle Cry.

THE ENEMY’S ARSENAL:

Television
This generation views 16 to 17 hours of television each week and sees, on average, 14,000 sexual scenes and references each year. That’s more than 38 references every day.

Internet
This generation spends three hours a day online and is the fi rst to grow up with point-andclick pornography. Almost 90 percent of teens have viewed pornography online at one of the 300,000 adult websites, most while doing homework.

Music

More than 25 percent of teen-targeted radio segments contain sexual content; 42 percent of top selling CDs contain sexual content.

Advertising

With more than $128 billion dollars in their pockets, this generation of teens has been targeted by corporate America, who does everything it can to grow brands and profits without any regard to the moral decay of a generation.

Fighting Back

There is a solution to this crisis already in place– the local church youth group. With a network spread across the nation, church youth ministries are the best resource for rescuing this generation. However, the mission to save 33 million teens requires both coordination and resources. In its current state, this network cannot meet the demand to reach even half that number. They need more leaders, more support, better facilities and better funding. This is the purpose of the Battle Cry Campaign– to establish a support structure for the local youth group. It calls for at least 100,000 local churches and 1,000,000 individuals to join the Battle Cry Coalition and commit to the planning, prayer and work required to grow their youth group. It is calling for senior pastors, youth leaders, concerned adults and teenagers to work together in their church to double the size of their youth group each year for the next 5 years.
